As a newly married Christian woman, I am seeking Christian books to helping me have the relationship with my husband that God intended for me to have. I found just this, in The Blessing of Unity by Richard T. Case. The Blessings of Unity offers insight and ideas for creating godly unity in our marriages centered around two key concepts:
1) Abiding in the Vine and walking in the Spirit,
2) Learning and applying the concept of unity.
The book starts off by asking the husband and wife to evaluate their marriage separately and take a short quiz (the clinical psychologist in me loves this idea). I have not done the evaluation with my husband but I am planning to do it soon.
The book then goes on to discuss things that cause division and discord in order to help you understand what disunity looks like. In order to help the reader fully understand disunity, Case uses his own marriage as an example, as well as the Biblical example of Paul and Barnabas.
After the reader has an understanding of disunity, Case begins to focus on what can bring unity to a marriage (i.e., the Word of God, handling disagreements in a way that honors God, etc.). Overall, I found that this book was well organized and had a strong Biblical foundation. My only complaint was that it read like a textbook.
